Kara Wetzel Counseling.Wellness.Art was created to serve those facing emotional, physical and spiritual challenges to their health and functioning. Drawing upon tools and skills gained over years of training and experience in the fields of Mental Health Counseling, Expressive Arts Therapy, Mindfulness, and Trauma Therapy I have developed a unique, holistic approach to healing. It is my hope that clients will come to my practice and feel heard and hopeful in finding their individualized path to Wellness.

Working with Kara

When asked about my treatment style, I share that I take a client-centered approach and develop a highly individualized plan for each client I see in therapy. Allowing the client to share their story and experiences is important part of my process. Viewing treatment issues from multiple angles and utilizing a wide range of evidence-based treatment modalities allows me to develop a holistic, comprehensive and effective plan to meet our goals.

Many people who are new to Psychotherapy and/or Expressive Arts Therapy have questions about the process. Therefore, I have created a broad overview of how we will spend our time together:

  • Complimentary Phone Consultation

  • Diagnostic Intake Session (1-1 1/2 hours)

  • 2-3 Individual Assessment Sessions

  • Parent Consultation Session (for child/teen clients)

  • Treatment Plan Developed & Initiated

  • Weekly Individual Sessions

  • Assessment/Treatment Plan Evaluation (every 6 months)

Depending on the client's needs, additional services may be necessary:

  • Monthly Parent Consultation

  • Couples Sessions

  • Family Sessions

  • Case Consultation-School, Psychiatrist, PCP, etc

  • Neuropsychological Evaluation 

Throughout this process the client/parent has agency to create a timeline in tandem with the therapist to meet their individual needs
